Movie Review:Gidi Blues
Akin Kuti (Gideon Okeke) is a spoilt guy and his mother(Bukky Wright) is not pleased with the kind of life her son is living with his best friend Jaiye (Daniel Lloyd).Akin's mum wants her son to get married and even found a 'church girl' but things are not what they seem.Akin's gesture of playing 'Robin hood' to Nkem (Hauwa Allahbura) and her friend Simbi (Lepacious Bose) was to begin a romantic journey and make the indulgent Akin a better person as his mother as always wanted.
The movie is a feature film laced with a love story and it was well articulated and produced a good result. The locations was well done ,from the markets,riverine/slum setting to gave the movie the real effect and made the story line more believable and beautiful.I also applaud the cinematography
What I didn't like:I expected more action from Nkem when Akin jumped into the sea ,not like she should have jumped in with him but she was not empathetic enough .I did not also connect very well with the MC at the club where Nkem celebrated her birthday.
Highlights:The Chase by Akin to recover Simbi's bag,Akin jumping into the river!I loved those scenes
My overall rating :Very Good!!
The movie is directed by ace Filmaker Femi Odugbemi
